As you all may have noticed once in a while when a thread is clearly changing locale or has completed what it's original title implies I've asked for folks to move the thread or change the title etc. I thought maybe I should explain my specific reasoning so that when these happen in the future everyone can recognize on their own when they should change the thread.
Many of these you'll go 'Oh I know that!' And most of us do, I'm just hoping by setting it out like this we can all get into the habit of doing it
A: The thread title no longer applies
Ex. 'Arriving at the Collegia' this could apply for an entire introduction thread up to the point the trainee has a room and has been left to their own devices. Then it's no longer 'arriving' and subsequent posts should change to a new thread with a new title, whether the locale or time changes or not.
B: There is a significant locale change
Ex: 'Playing in the Field' well this clearly indicates you are in Companions Field (of which Field should always be capitalized). If you move to the Companions Stables this could still apply, but once you go inside the Collegia, or the salle or the Palace etc, you should probably change the thread, unless it's a quick run in and back out kind of action.
C: It's a time change that is not directly sequential
Ex. 'In the Field (MiWi/W1/D1/morning)' if you are moving through morning and end up in late morning/early afternoon then you could keep the thread moving as one (as long as you're not changing locales), but if you were to jump to Lunch, then you need to change the thread.
Times you don't need to change threads even if changing locale-
A: When you start in one place but are headed somewhere else.
Ex: 'Off to Lunch' This could start anywhere, the title is indicating you are headed for one of the Dining areas(or a tavern in town etc) however so you should end up at the area within a few minutes of IC time (this could be all one post or several if there are two or more of you).
B: When you are very general as to where you are to begin with.
Ex: 'In the Palace' this could span anything that is inside the palace or Heralds/Mages/Blues Collegia as they are all part of the attached palace buildings. If you moved to Bardics building then you might need to change the thread, depending on how it's running.
And that's all I can think of for now, I may add more later if we run across any situations not covered here.
And remember, these are suggestions, not rules. So if you forget or just prefer not to change threads no one is going to get into trouble with the Mods. But I think this will make threads much more cohesive and keep them from getting so long that no one wants to read all the posts if they've missed a day or two.
