OK so this is not a rule in and of itself but several specific rules will apply to these sorts of threads.
For PC Birthing Days ONLY!
(No NPC's or Temps - PNPC's should be done sparingly)
When the club is running IC threads within a season in which your PC character's birthday lands you have the option to create a 'birthday thread', dated for the PC's birth date only. Even if the group as a whole will not be playing out that particular IC day.
For example- Your PC's Birthing day is in summer. Most of the time we only play out 1-3 days or at most a week of any given season/term. But we don't want to always miss out on playing our PC's birthing days! So your PC can have a thread happening on thier birthday, even if it doesn't fall within the days being played out by the group as long as it is in the same season.
These threads do not have to be a party threads, they may evolve into a party thread if you like, but in general they would not start that way.
The Rules and Restrictions are as follows...
You may only play out 1 PC birthday per season, even if you have two, or more, PC birthdays in that season.
The only exception to this is if you play twins and start one thread for the two of them.
You may only play out a PC's birthday every other IC year.
The sole exception to this would be if you only have one PC.
This also allows you to rotate which PC you have a Birthday thread for, if you have more than one in the same season.
Example- Bree and Windwalker are both Spring Birthdays, one year I hold Bree's Birthing day celebration, the next I hold Wind's, then after that I can do Bree again or choose another of my PC's with a Spring birthing day.
ONLY the player of the PC may start a Birthday thread.
Others may then jump in at the PC owners discretion.
If you have a character that is entwined with someone else's character (lifebonded, blood oathed, sibling etc) and you want to start a thread for a 'surprise' party or some such then you must clear it with the PC owner AND let the Mod's know you have thier permission to start a Birthing Day thread because it will still count as if the owner started it!
Other members may start continuation threads for the PC birthday if it is because the thread needs to change locale and it is clearly marked as a continuation thread.
(Ex. 'Bree's Birthding Day' starts in the Companions Stables started by me, but once that thread is moving to another area of the boards someone else could begin 'Bree's Birthing Day continued' in the Common Room. Or something like that)
If a large club-wide plot is actively happening then you must have permission to start a birthing day thread.
This is simply so that we can avoid huge chaotic messes
(Ex. The old Slaver plot, that would not have been a good time to throw in another thread based on a different day, it was chaotic enough just with the slaver threads running.)
And of course no one HAS to post birthday threads, this just gives everyone the option of extra threads, without having to get it cleared to be posting out of the current IC time frame, as long as it is the same season (excepting the special circumstance of huge plotiness).
And just to be clear, you can always reference a birthing day as having happened and any connected festivities (or lack thereof), but it may only be played out every other IC year per PC.
AND if your PC's birthing day falls IN the days that the group is playing out ICly. Then you get a 'freebie' and may mention it ICly, and play a bit with it, as long as it's not a drawn out set of threads. Once it draws into more than a short bit (like it breaks into a party thread) then it will be deemed to be that PC's Birthing Day thread and you will not be able to do more than mention it the following IC year.
Any questions/comments feel free to post them here, I'm sure this will evolve a bit more with time.
